NEWS ADVISORY: Local veterans to honor 288 fallen Southern California brothers and sisters on Memorial Day

LOCAL VETERANS TO SET UP MEMORIAL TO 288 FALLEN BROTHERS AND SISTERS FROM SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ON MEMORIAL DAY (May 27th, 2019)

 

WHAT:

 
On Monday, May 27th, 2019,  (Memorial Day), the San Diego Veterans For Peace will be setting up its respected "Hometown Arlington West Memorial" on the front lawn of the USS Midway Museum, 910 N. Harbor Drive, near the corner of Broadway, in downtown San Diego. Chapter veterans from all five services will be honoring our 288 fallen brothers and sisters from Southern California who have died in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, with special memorial markers. The public is asked to stop by, read their names, honor the ultimate sacrifice made by these local fallen men and women, and to reflect on the overall costs of these two ongoing wars and possible future wars.  

WHO:

Chapter members and friends of the San Diego Veterans For Peace, the local San Diego chapter of the national Veterans For Peace organization, a national 501-C-3 veterans educational organization.

WHERE: 

Lawn in front of the USS Midway Museum, 910 N. Harbor Drive, San Diego, CA 92101

WHEN:

Memorial Day, Monday, May 27th, 2019 from 7 AM to 5 PM.  The press is invited after 9 AM to allow the memorial to be set up.  

WHY:

Chapter members of all five military services will be staffing the Hometown Arlington West Memorial on this Memorial Day holiday, and encourage the public to stop by and honor our fallen brothers and sisters from Southern California, as we continue to reflect on the overall costs of war.
