Thank you to VFP's Outgoing Board Members

February 06, 2015

The Veterans For Peace Board would like to thank both Margret Stevens and Ken Dalton for their dedication and work to VFP and to the cause of peace.

Margaret Stevens was appointed to the VFP national board by President Patrick McCann and did a stellar job as a board member, providing a unique perspective as a Global War on Terror era woman of color veteran. Margaret is a professor at Essex County College working with urban youth. She has helped the board develop the Peace at Home Peace Abroad lens as one of the tools in the VFP toolbox to talk about the cost of U.S. wars, U.S. foreign policy and the direct impact of those polices on all communities here at home. For personal and professional reasons, Margaret chose not to run for a new term.  We are proud that Margaret has continued her strong commitment to the work of VFP by accepting an appointment to the VFP International Advisory Board.

The Veterans For Peace National Board is sad to announce that Ken Dalton has stepped down from the board. Ken is the former President of Chapter 21 and served in that capacity for many years. He has been a valued board member and has contributed greatly to the work of Veterans For Peace during his two years of service as a national director. Ken provided a working-class perspective that helps ground VFP work in the real world and not just from a theoretical perspective. Ken will be greatly missed. Although no longer on the Board of Directors, Ken remains actively involved in his local VFP chapter and will remain as member of the Development Committee.

As a result of Ken Dalton stepping down there is now a new vacancy on the board. Per the VFP By-Laws, Article IV. Board of Directors, Section 4. Vacancies reads in part, The President may appoint a Director to fill the vacancy on the Board of Directors, subject to the approval of the Board of Directors.

We are searching for dedicated veteran members to serve on the national board. Veterans For Peace needs you! Your work on the national board will help ensure Veterans For Peace remains a strong and viable organization working for the cause of peace.

If you are interested in being a board member, please send a short resume including a statement explaining why you are interested in serving as a VFP Board member to Board President Barry Ladendorf bdlvfp@gmail.com or call the VFP National Office 314 725-6005 to speak to the Executive Director Michael T. McPhearson to answer any questions.

People of color, women and recent veterans who have served since September 11, 2001 are encouraged to apply.
