Veterans For Peace is a 501(c)(3) international organization of military veterans and allies working to build a culture of peace. Veterans For Peace has approximately 3,500 members and more than 110 chapters located across the United States and internationally.

Position Overview
Veterans For Peace seeks a Membership Coordinator responsible for strengthening and growing the organization’s membership base through recruitment, retention, engagement, and chapter development.
The Membership Coordinator serves as the primary staff liaison to members and chapters, and plays a key role in building a vibrant, connected membership community. The position supports both grassroots organizing and operational membership systems, ensuring members are welcomed, supported, and connected to the broader mission of Veterans For Peace.
The Membership Coordinator works closely with the Executive Director, the Membership Committee, the Communications staff, and the Development staff.
Core Responsibilities
Membership Recruitment & Retention
Develop and implement strategies to grow and retain Veterans For Peace membership, including:

Supporting national membership drives and campaigns

Identifying opportunities to recruit new members through outreach, events, and partnerships
-
Developing materials that communicate the value and impact of VFP membership
-
Ensuring timely onboarding and orientation of new members
-
Conducting welcome outreach to new members and assisting them in connecting with local chapters or national programs
-
Maintaining relationships with at-large members and helping them find meaningful ways to engage
-
Supporting re-engagement efforts with lapsed members
Chapter Development & Support
Strengthen the capacity of Veterans For Peace chapters by:

Providing information, referrals, and technical assistance to chapter leaders
-
Supporting the formation of new chapters and organizing efforts
-
Maintaining communication with chapter contacts
-
Developing and promoting chapter organizing toolkits and resources
-
Supporting leadership development among chapter members
-
Assisting chapters in connecting with national campaigns and initiatives
Membership Systems & Database Management
Serve as the staff lead responsible for membership data integrity and reporting.
Responsibilities include:

Maintaining and updating the membership database (EveryAction or similar CRM)
-
Ensuring accurate records for member contact information, chapter affiliation, and membership status
-
Monitoring and resolving membership data issues
-
Generating membership reports for the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and committees
-
Supporting list management for communications and organizing
Member Communications & Engagement
Help strengthen communication between the national office, members, and chapters.
Responsibilities include:

Responding to member inquiries via email and phone
-
Contributing membership-related content to the newsletter, website, and other communications
-
Coordinating with communications staff to support membership campaigns
-
Promoting tools and platforms that help members stay connected and informed
-
Encouraging member participation in national programs, campaigns, and events
Committee & Organizational Support
-
Staff the Membership Committee, including helping the Membership Committee chair schedule meetings and supporting committee initiatives
-
Work collaboratively with staff and volunteers on membership campaigns and events
-
Assist with outreach, organizing, and national events when needed
-
Contribute to cross-departmental efforts that strengthen member engagement and organizational growth
Qualifications
Preferred qualifications include:
-
Experience working with membership organizations, nonprofits, or grassroots movements
-
Experience with EveryAction or similar CRM/database systems
-
Strong organizational and data management skills
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
-
Ability to build relationships with volunteers and grassroots leaders
-
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and online collaboration tools
-
Commitment to the mission and values of Veterans For Peace
Experience working with veterans’ organizations, peace organizations, or social justice movements is a plus.

Remote position with occasional travel for meetings or events
