St. Louis Chapter Installs Peace Pole

July 07, 2017

The St. Louis Chapter of Veterans For Peace planted a peace pole at 10 a.m. on July 1st at Northside Missionary Baptist Church.

A Peace Pole is an international symbol and monument to peace. The pole is decorated and has the words “May Peace Prevail on Earth” in a different language on each side. The Peace Pole Project was an initiative of The World Peace Society, an international non-profit organization dedicated to uniting the hearts of humanity through the universal message of peace. The Peace Pole Project transcends race, religions and politics to spread the message of peace. There are tens of thousands of Peace Poles in 180 countries all over the world dedicated as monuments to peace.

Veterans for Peace (VFP) is an international organization of veterans and allies committed to abolishing war, exposing the true costs of war and militarism, and working for a more just, peaceful and sustainable future.

“As a veteran, I know how important it is to end war and to do that we must create a culture of peace.” Stanley McCoy president of the local Veterans For Peace chapter, “Planting powerful symbols throughout our community that promote peace and encourages the idea that peace is possible because you are also linking with people all over the world who have planted Peace Poles in the same spirit.”
