VFP Chapter 49: Stands in Solidarity with our Muslim Brothers and Sisters

February 29, 2016

Monday, February 29, 11:30 a.m.

Islamic Society of North America

6555 S CR 750 E, Plainfield, IN 46168

As veterans who have served in our country’s armed forces, we took an oath to uphold the Constitution of the United States.  We continue to serve in support of this Constitution, which guarantees the Freedom of Religion.

We understand that some people, including those who may call themselves Christians, do not follow the real teachings of love and kindness towards other human beings that are at the core of their faith.  When we see violence such as that expressed at the Islamic Society of North America, we are saddened and ashamed that some Americans have turned their backs on the true values upon which our democracy was founded.  We specifically reject those who promote hate and discrimination in violation of the basic principles of the United States of America which we served to defend.

We who have served in our nation’s military with others from every religion, nationality, and race stand in solidarity with our Muslim American brothers and sisters, and call on all in our society to live up to thebestthat we can be as Americans.

We ask all our members and friends to show their solidarity with Muslim Americans at ISNA tomorrow (Monday) morning at 11:30 a.m.

Thank you for standing up for the American in which we believe.  Together we can make a difference!
