VFP49 Action: Presidential State of the Union address on Iran

January 29, 2014

Veterans For Peace strongly supports both negotiations as the primary effort to find peaceful solutions in relations with Iran, particularly a Weapons-of-Mass-Destruction Free Zone in the Middle East. When the pat to peace is blocked, only the path to war is left open.

In his State of the Union address last night, the President made a clear commitment for diplomacy in seeking positive solutions in relations with Iran.

When the cameras showed audience reactions, it was clear that a block of legislators were not pleased with the President's points. While Senate Bill 1881 seems to be on hold for now, our allies at the Friends Committee on National Legislation inform us that there are more moves in Congress to undermine constructive negotiations with Iran.

Congress needs to know that Americans clearly support that path to peace... not war!

Take five minutes to make a difference for a more peaceful and just America:

Tell them you are a veteran (or family/friend of a veteran) who votes, and ask them:

  • To publicly support negotiations in the peace process in relations with Iran.
  • To support long-term solutions for peace, like a Weapons-of-Mass-Destruction Free Zone in the Middle East.

Thank you for your efforts to support the path to peace! When veterans and voters come together, we can make a difference!
