VFP 101 Rang a Bell for Peace on November 11th

November 13, 2013

Members of the San Jose chapter of Veterans for Peace, Chapter 101, met on the corner of Fourth and Santa Clara streets in San Jose, California with other members of the community to ring a bell for peace and restore the meaning of Armistice Day the morning of November 11th. Later that evening the bell was transported to Stanford University and displayed at a panel discussion hosted by "Stanford Says No To War." There were three members on the panel, Paul Chappell and IVAW members Emily Yates and Samel Triplett. Paul Chappell, as usual, was an inspiration and gave us a lot to think about. Both IVAW members did a heartfelt presentation describing their experiences. Emily Yates sang several of her songs that were to the point and straight from the heart. After the event we were able to talk to people about Armistice Day and pass out VFP information to an audience that was very receptive.
