World Premiere of Clownvets

March 01, 2019

World Premiere of Clownvets will take place at the prestigious Cinequest Film Festival in San Jose, California during March.

Patch Adams and some of the vets (INCLUDING A Chicago VFP member) featured in the film will be there.

The CineQuest Festival extends an invitation to all film lovers to attend the Festival from March 7-11, 2019.
They are offering a Veteran discount to "ClownVets" to all military and the people who serve them at two of the Redwood City screenings (see below).

Every day in the US, over 20 Veterans commit suicide due to Post Traumatic Stress and those who survive become victims of a constant suffering. In an effort to relieve these invisible wounds, Patch Adams MD takes a group of these Veterans on a trip to Guatemala to immerse them into the world of humanitarian clowning, where the red nose works as an excuse to connect these men and women with love, compassion and laughter, things that for these heroes seemed forgotten.

COL George Patrin, Commander of CALMED/POM 2007-2009, has teamed up with Dr. Patch Adams (from the movie Patch, with Robin Williams) to put together an alternative approach to treating military trauma and PTSD - Humanitarian Clowning in Guatemala! They have taken 20 Vets with persistent PTSD, chronic depression, anxiety, etc. on a week long clowning experience with amazing results. The Vets come back transformed, needing less of the standard therapies we offer for PTSD.

The world premiere of ClownVets is being shown at the Cinequest Film Festival on Thursday, March 7th @ 7:15 PM at the California Theatre, 345 S. First Street, San Jose, CA, with three more showings Mar 8, 9, and 11 at Century 20, 825 Middlefield Rd, Redwood City, CA 94063.

Patch Adams himself will be at the 7th for the premiere. This documentary was also selected as the "Kaiser Permanente Thrive Award" winner this year!
