Veterans Welcome Golden Rule Peace Boat to Seattle

July 05, 2016
Thanks so much to the many members of Greater Seattle Veterans For Peace, Chapter 92 who showed up and helped out with Golden Rule outreach at the Lake Union Wooden Boat Festival over the three day weekend.  We reached thousands of people with our uniquely engaging message for nuclear disarmament, peace and sustainability.

It was inspiring to see once again how VFP members are proud and excited to be part of the VFP Golden Rule Project.

Schedule of Golden Rule Events in Seattle Area

  • Saturday July 9, 12:00 PM - 3:00 PM, Log Boom Park Picnic, Lake Forest Park / Potluck, see the boat
  • Saturday July 9, 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM, University Friends Meeting, 4001 9th Avenue NE, Seattle.  Visit Golden Rule afterwards at nearby Ivars restaurant.
  • Sunday July 10, 12:00 PM 8:00 PM South Lake Union Park Table, picnic, boat tours and boat rides.
The Golden Rule will be in and around Seattle and the Puget Sound for another month. After traveling to Bainbridge Island, Tacoma and Olympia, we will be back in Seattle for Seafair / Fleet Week in the first week of August.

We will be sailing in Elliott Bay on Wednesday, Aug. 3, providing a contrast to the Navy war ships.  We will be docked at Pier 66 that week, and welcoming visitors.  We will be present at Green Lake (sans Golden Rule) on Hiroshima Day, Saturday evening, Aug. 6.

On Nagasaki Day, Tuesday, Aug. 9, we will sail near the Bangor Trident Submarine Base on Hood Canal, accompanied by a "peace flotilla" of boats and kayaks.  This will certainly be a major highlight of our 4-1/2 month voyage to 30-some ports in Oregon, Washington and British Columbia.
