Video: VFP National Board Secretary Monique Salhab speaks at Albuquerque airport protest.

"I was in Albuquerque on Sunday Jan.29th at a VFP National Board meeting. One of the critical issues that we were discussing was Trumps cruel, racist ban on Muslim immigrants. Of course when we heard about the protest at the airport that afternoon, those that were not flying out prior to that felt we had to go. WE felt the presence and solidarity of veterans was important. Not only as veterans but as citizens and human beings we have an obligation to stand with and for all those who are oppressed. We remember and believe what Martin Luther King Jr. said, "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” Besides that, the human experience of being with so many people who care about others, who care about human rights and justice was incredibly empowering and uplifting.
