On Friday, October 14th Veterans For Peace, Los Angeles chapter worked in tandem with CAIR [Council on American Islamic Relations]. Four volunteers (Veterans Michael Lindley and Wendy Barranco and Associate Kathleen Hernandez along with Patrick Bonner) from VFP LA and one volunteer from VFP San Diego Edward Fox participated. Michael and Patrick went to the Iman Cultural Center, Kathleen and Wendy to the Hawthorne Mosque and Edward to the Anaheim mosque. Veterans and allies built a stronger alliance with CAIR and the Muslim community at large by just showing up. We shared / introduced CAIR members to VFP mission and that of Veterans Challenge Islamophobia while registering voters, handing out immigration workshop brochures for those that were not citizens.
