The future of war with Leah Bolger today @ 4PM EST

June 18, 2013

Wanted to alert you to this unique conversation about 'the future of war' today, featuring VFP's past president:

In the new issue of Orion, Christopher Merrill shares observations from his hectic travel schedule as a cultural envoy for the United States which brings him to conflict zones on a regular basis, and he synthesized his observations in an essay for the current issue of Orion, "The New Face of War."

Joining him to discuss how war is changing are the following:
  • Leah Bolger, who served in the U.S. Navy for twenty years, achieved the rank of Commander, and is now a full time peace activist,
  • Christian Parenti, of The Nation and author of Tropic of Chaos, which explores how the climate crisis is driving violent conflict, and how that will continue to unfold, and will be calling in from Morocco,
  • and Jodie Evans, co-founder and co-director of CODEPINK, who will have just returned from Yemen with a delegation days prior, meeting people effected by 'the war on terror' ~ she's been an activist for peace, justice, and the environment for forty years.
Join these thinkers and doers for a free live discussion moderated by Orion to broaden your thinking on this topic, and to share your own thoughts and questions with the panel. The event is scheduled for June 18, at 4 p.m. Eastern/1 p.m. Pacific.
