Chapter 118 Protest the Annual ALEC Convention

July 31, 2012

The Nikko Schoch Chapter 118 marched, protested and conducted a teach-in as part of the Occupy salt Lake City movement, welcoming the American Legislative Exchange Council in late July for the annual convention.

ALEC is a 501c3 non profit funded by the Koch Brothers, putting together corporation leaders and legislators from across the country to enact voter suppression, stand your ground, anti-union, and privatization of prisons and education public policy. Chapter Contact, Gary Mesker coordinated events, and chapter member Nick Coppin helped give a teach-in on ALEC and the Koch Brothers. Nick actually worked for Koch Industries in Wichita, Kansas for six years, and has written a book on the less popular Koch Brother, Bill.
