This has been a tradition of Chapter 27 to march in the MayDay parade in South Minneapolis. This unique parade marches through one of the poorest neighborhoods in the city and showcases giant puppetistas made by various neighborhood groups. Participants warmly welcomed veterans who proudly display VFP colors and banners. This year, the theme of the parade was "From Fossil Fuels to Sustainability." Of course, VFP bannering reminded people that the military is one of the worst polluters on earth and about the dangers of depleted uranium left in the wake of our military actions.
