Whereas, the United States continues to provide military and diplomatic support for Israel despite its ongoing genocide against Palestinians and repeated violations of international law; and
Whereas, recent proposals within the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) and related legislation seek to institutionalize deeper military integration between the United States and Israel through expanded military, intelligence, and technological cooperation; and
Whereas, permanent institutional integration differs fundamentally from military cooperation between sovereign nations by weakening congressional oversight, constitutional accountability, democratic transparency, and independent national decision-making while increasing the likelihood of future military entanglements; and
Whereas, proposals to integrate the military and intelligence institutions of the United States with those of Israel—including extending veterans' benefits to members of the Israeli military—ignore the realities of competing national interests, documented espionage, foreign influence operations, and the constitutional obligation of the U.S. government to remain accountable first and foremost to the American people;
Therefore, be it resolved, that Veterans For Peace (VFP) opposes any legislation, executive action, or policy that seeks to institutionalize or permanently integrate the military, intelligence, procurement, technological, or command relationships of the United States and Israel, or those of any other foreign nation; and
Be it further resolved, that VFP opposes extending veterans' benefits, status, or privileges intended to honor service to the United States to members of any foreign military; and
Be it further resolved, that VFP calls for an immediate end to U.S. military support facilitating genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity, and other violations of international law, and urges Congress, VFP members, chapters, and the public to oppose proposals for permanent military integration and instead support diplomacy, constitutional accountability, national sovereignty, and international law.
