Resolution 2025-3: Honoring the Role and Contributions of Associate Members in Veterans For Peace

Whereas Veterans For Peace (VFP) is, first and foremost, an organization led by military veterans committed to abolishing war and its causes;

Whereas our mission has always depended on the unwavering commitment of those who have never worn the uniform but who stand shoulder-to-shoulder with us in the fight for peace and justice;

Whereas associate members—family, partners, caregivers, and allies—have long served as both the first line of support for returning veterans and as some of the most dedicated activists in our movement;

Whereas associate members comprise approximately one-quarter of VFP’s total membership, reflecting the broad and diverse base of support essential to our shared mission;

Whereas their solidarity has deepened and strengthened our work, both in public struggle and private healing, often without formal recognition;

Whereas VFP has taken important steps to honor this partnership by establishing an associate member seat on the National Board of Directors and expanding full voting rights to include bylaws, board elections, and resolutions;

Whereas associate members are now also able to take on greater leadership roles at the chapter level, strengthening grassroots organizing and ensuring a more inclusive and representative movement;

Therefore, be it resolved that Veterans For Peace formally acknowledges, celebrates, and honors the indispensable contributions of our associate members, past and present;

Be it further resolved that we commit to continued inclusion, communication, and collaboration with associate members in all aspects of our work, recognizing that peace is not the burden of veterans alone, but a shared responsibility and calling.
