The Winter Soldier Investigation: 50 Years Later
50 years ago this month the Winter Soldier Investigation (WSI) in Detroit was organized by Vietnam Veterans Against the War. Over 100 veterans testified. The panelists spoke of atrocities they had seen or carried out. WSI got very little press at the time, but it did get some attention from anti-war members of Congress.

On January 27th, a statement endorsed by 110 U.S., 197 South Korean, and 80 international civil society organizations was sent to the Biden administration urging the suspension of annual combined military exercises with South Korea in order to restart diplomacy with North Korea.
Veterans For Peace Celebrates Nuclear Ban Treaty
As veterans concerned about issues of war and peace, we are happy to celebrate the UN Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW), the important new international peace initiative that goes into force on January 22. The “Nuclear Ban Treaty,” as it is also known, was approved 122-1 by the UN General Assembly in July 2017, a clear expression of the will of the world’s people.

January 22, 2021, will be a historic day for nuclear weapons. On that day, at midnight, the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons will enter into force, establishing in international law a categorical ban on nuclear weapons, seventy-five years after their development and first use.
