Bylaw 2022-05: Allow Default Customs in Relationship to Robert’s Rules

Election Results: Passed

Approve: 382 (91.61%)

Disapprove: 35 (8.39%)

Abstain: 134

Bylaw amendment objective: To update the bylaws to reflect current practice, as widespread meeting practices elevate local customs above Robert's Rules of Order in most situations without "permission" (via the bylaws) to do so, and to provide basic guidance for implementing such local customs.

The rules contained in the current edition of Robert’s Rules of Order, Newly Revised, shall govern VFP in Convention, at any meeting, chapter meeting, or Committee meeting in which they are not inconsistent with these Bylaws. It is permissible for meetings to adopt customs that seek to promote inclusion, active listening, and simplified processes, as default processes. These default processes must be understood and documented, with Robert's Rules of Order used to resolve any issues not otherwise addressed.
