VFP Member, Dana Chwan, Book Signing Event

October 07, 2014

Dana Chwan is the author of “The Reluctant Sorority: The Life, Loves and Loss of Three Vietnam War Widows." Dana’s husband was an air force pilot shot down in the very early stages of the war in Vietnam — 1965.  He was MIA for almost 20 years until his remains were identified and returned in 1985 for burial at Arlington.

What:  Dana Chwan Book Signing Event

When:  Saturday, October 11th

Time:  5 -7pm

Where:  CCA Theatre
             1050 Old Pecos Trail
             Santa Fe, NM

Dana calls the book a “faction” - a combination of fiction and faction.  It is the story of three war widows whose husbands — one American, one Vietnamese, and one Russian — were all killed in the same incident.  In the course of the story, they are brought together to show the consequences of war from the perspective of the widows. It is probably one of the very few books ever written about Vietnam that has an uplifting ending. A portion of the proceeds for Dana’s book sales at this event will be donated to VFP Joan Duffy Chapter 55 in  Santa Fe, NM.

This event is held in conjunction with the local showing of “Last Days In Vietnam”, produced and directed by Rory Kennedy, the daughter of Robert F. Kennedy. The movie is a documentary including actual footage of the frantic, last days of the evacuation of Saigon on April 30th, 1965, as it was overtaken by and fell to the North Vietnamese army.
