IVAW Winter Soldier: Iraq and Afghanistan

IVAW's Winter Soldier: Iraq and Afghanistan

Winter Soldier/Iraq Veterans Against the War March 13-16, 2008, Iraq and Afghanistan veterans will gather in Washington DC to witness and tell their stories and experiences about U.S. foreign policy in both countries. The nation will hear directly from those who have been there on the ground. This gathering will be in the tradition of the 1971 Winter Soldier investigations held by Vietnam Veterans Against the War. Not since that seminal event has the American public had such an important opportunity to hear the truth about the brutality of war and the nature of U.S. foreign policy.

How Can I Help?

Hold a House Party

House Parties and Movie Nights - Have a house party to spread the word about the hearings and raise money to help IVAW.  Ask a friend or neighbor to organize one.  We need to tell everyone we know about the hearings.  We cannot let it be ignored.  Organize a movie night at the local library or pub.  Show the Vietnam Winter Soldier DVD. A 15 minute IVAW Winter Soldier Preview will soon be available.

Write Letters to the Editor

Meet with Editorial Boards

Letters and media visits: - Do not let these testimonies be ignored by the media. Partner with other organizations to visit your local media.  Make appointments with editorial boards to discuss why it is important for your community to know about the hearings.  Send letters to the editor and television outlets informing the about Winter Soldier and that you want to make sure they cover it.
