Bradley Manning Support Network -  The Bradley Manning Support Network is an ad hoc, international grassroots effort to help accused whistle blower Pfc. Bradley Manning. We are working to:

  • Harness the outrage felt by millions of viewers of the “Collateral Murder” video into a coordinated effort in defense of Manning
  • Raise awareness about the recent arrest and charges against Manning
  • Coordinate the activities of nonprofits and individual activists working internationally to support Manning
  • Collect funds necessary to ensure high-quality legal counsel necessary for a vigorous defense
  • Provide prisoner support for Manning throughout his imprisonment

We are an autonomous network of supporters with no official ties to political parties. We are not associated with Wikileaks and we are not a division of any larger nonprofit entity.

Service Women's Action Network (SWAN)

MISSION

SWAN supports, defends, and empowers today’s servicewomen and women veterans of all eras, through groundbreaking advocacy initiatives and innovative, healing community programs.

VISION

SWAN’s vision is to transform military culture by securing equal opportunity and the freedom to serve in uniform without threat of harassment, discrimination, intimidation or assault.  SWAN also seeks to reform veterans’ services on a national scale to guarantee equal access to quality health care, benefits and resources for women veterans and their families.

SWAN affects change for servicewomen and women veterans by educating and informing policy makers, the media and the public, engaging military leadership and veterans providers, developing healing and empowering community programs, offering personal support and guidance from fellow women veterans and providing pro bono legal referrals from military law experts.

VALUES

SWAN is a human rights organization.  We tackle issues and challenge institutions that deny equal opportunities, equal protections, and equal benefits to servicemembers and veterans.

Similarily, the inclusive approach we take is pivotal to healing the various forms of discrimination and violence faced by women in the military, including sexism, racism, and homophobia.

Women veterans design, supervise and lead SWAN’s programs, in order to foster a sense of belonging, ownership, and community and to build personal skills that increase leadership experience, self-sufficiency, healing and well-being.

The content of SWAN’s work is directly informed by the experiences of the women whom we serve.

SWAN gives voice, agency and opportunity to women veterans, regardless of the context, era, or type of their service.

Latin American Solidarity Coalition(LASC)

The Latin America Solidarity Coalition (LASC) is an association of national and local US-based grassroots Latin America and Caribbean solidarity groups, many of which have long histories of working with grassroots organizations throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. LASC's goal is to define common goals and shared strategies for these groups. LASC's work circles around several hemisphere-wide issues as well as country-specific topics.

We operate and structure our work from a solidarity model: we operate on the principle of self-determination; it is not up to us to determine what our partners in the Global South should or should not do. Nor is it up to us to determine the strategies and methodologies they use. We determine our strategies based on the needs of our partners in Latin America and the Caribbean.

As a movement we must have ongoing critiques of our internal power dynamics, especially regarding the issues of race, class and gender. In our research and analysis, and in presentation of that research and analysis, we will take into account the affects on men, women, and society distinctly, recognizing that most research and analysis of "society" excludes the experience of women.

We must always attempt to put a "human face" on our work - that the policies we are working for or against affect real people to whom we have a connection.

We recognize how many issues are inter-connected and that there is potential to make links between Latin America solidarity issues and the work of local community groups.
