RESULTS OF THE 2007 VFP BOARD ELECTION

By the voting deadline 1004 ballots were received. Of these: There were 79 for which it was not possible to verify that the sender was an eligible voter. There were also 3 illegal ballots (more than 4 names checked)

The tally of the remaining 922 ballots yielded the following totals:
  • Leah Bolger 630 - ELECTED
  • Bill Collins 616 - ELECTED
  • Eli PaintedCrow 608 - ELECTED
  • Hart Viges 577 - ELECTED
  • Elliott Adams 575
  • Nate Goldshlag 299
  • Stephen Parry 251
  • George Johnson 120
Leah Bolger Bill Collins Eli PaintedCrow Hart Viges
Because of the closeness of the tally, the committee tallied the 79 "unverifiable" ballots and determined that including them would not have changed the outcome of the election. F Lincoln Grahlfs acted as Primary Election Judge

ATTEND A HOUSE MEETING - PUT PRESSURE ON NEW ADMINISTRATION

"Regardless of whether you voted for Obama, voted against Obama, or did not vote, this is an opportunity to put some pressure on the incoming administration."

- Ken Mayers, VFP Board Member, Veteran member of Santa Fe Chapter 55

President-Elect, Barack Obama's campaign, is putting together house meetings to reflect on what they have accomplished and future plans to develop and move forward the Obama agenda. This provides a unique opportunity for VFP members and supporters to attend these house meetings and push a true anti-war/peace and justice agenda!

VFP Board Member, Ken Mayers, says it best:

"If VFP members across the country would pack these meetings and insist on out of Iraq now, out of Afghanistan now, start moving toward nuclear disarmament, end torture now, drastically reduce the defense budget we might actually start a process in the right direction. We can't afford to miss any opportunities."

Attend a "Change is Coming" house meeting!

From the Barack Obama Website: "On December 13th and 14th, supporters all across the country are coming together to reflect on this monumental journey and plan on how they can bring change to both Washington and their own communities."

Debra Hedding, Veteran Member of Tampa Bay, Chapter 119, describes how this could work:

"These are house parties. Neighborhoods are gathering to form strategy on issues to work on locally as well as nationally using the web technology Obama used for his grassroots campaign. "Never before has VFP had an opportunity like this! It is much easier and much more effective to convince your neighbors to work on specific anti-war initiatives than it is to push the whole nation to adopt our beliefs. You could turn this into a great recruiting tool for your chapter!"
