MEET JEANETTE, VFP'S NEWEST STAFF PERSON

Woody Powell has been serving as VFP's Membership Coordinator in a part-time capacity for the last few years.  Woody is in the process of stepping down from his staff position with VFP.  And while we will miss Woody's years of wisdom, we are excited to introduce Jeanette McDermott as our new Membership Coordinator.

Jeanette's background includes being an artist, serving as the director of an arts program she co-founded, serving as the executive director of an environment organization, and has just returned from spending several years in South America.

Her military service includes 11 years enlisted in the Navy as a photojournalist and 12 years as an officer in the U.S. Army Reserve.

VETERANS FOR PEACE ISSUES JOINT STATEMENT:  "THE IRAQ DEBACLE"

While most of the country is talking "withdrawing all combat troops from Iraq", Veterans For Peace and other peace and justice organizations have issued a powerful joint statement calling attention to the fact that continue to have 50,000 troops and 5 "enduring bases" in that country.
