Sample Cover Letter:
Dear (name of editor):
"A conscientious officer may indeed resign rather than be employed in an unjust war." So wrote Ben Franklin in 1785.
Here is a short, 600-word op-ed submission from Veterans For Peace, a challenge to American commanders to honor their oath to defend the constitution.
The new statement comes at a time when the U.S. military is passing through a crisis of integrity. Retired Generrals openly denounce the folly of the occupation. The number of GI resisters grows. Now is the time to address the legal rights of American troops, the obligation of cmmanders to follow the law.
Because of the timeliness of the VFP submission, we hope for a quick response.
Signed. Local Chapter.
